The day I left my first company.

I started working in 2011 at 3.25 LPA
and despite being an over-achiever and being felicitated with
Bravo Award, by the time I was leaving, my salary was 4.32 LPA

As shocking as it may sound, I didn’t resign for Money

I left because my younger brother got a job in Pune
and I had to come back to Mumbai for my parents
— that is one of the honest truths of my life :)

I was the sole breadwinner for my family, for those 4 years, until my brother graduated

So, no matter how less, that salary meant a great deal for me
I’m not sure how many of you will understand my sentiment here

I still remember when all the formalities were done, cakes were cut and I met all my colleagues and friends,
that friday evening before leaving the company,

I took a walk across the huge Pune Infy campus
One last time, all alone, feeling sad leaving a place which had become like home in all the years for me.

Or maybe it’s just that your first job is a bit special and we are biased towards it.

Looking back, I realise I travelled a long way till here :)
