I have lost the count of the number of times I’ve heard and seen this song — Niya (meaning — naive)

https://youtu.be/e1_yflHZ-jI

Right from the first frame, this song just captured all my attention

I’m a die-hard fan of Egypt

and love the rustic soulful music and songs in Arabic, Turkish and other similar languages

What Manal has done with this Music video, is simply phenomenal

I get the Egyptian vibes as the video starts

The song is pleasant, has a story which to me looks like is actually having 2 parallel stories going on (or maybe it is)

The visuals are so vibrant and traditional, that it is a visual delight.

While a girl via this song is emphasising to her love of life.. to stop considering her Naive and wasting her time and marry for real and abide by the God’s rule;

What is more soul crushing is the fact that she’s portraying a Sheikha (which probably is a Moroccan version of a Geisha) and cannot probably marry anyone and is still hoping for a marriage proposal in this song that will never come

But what if a Sheikha wants to marry ?

I got to know all about Sheikha from here :-

https://en.vogue.me/culture/manal-niya-moroccan-fashion/

I’m not sure if this concept still exists and I also want to mention that I respect all culture and traditions, globally; I really do.

It is so melancholic — while a whole generation of girls like me; may NOT want to marry

there can be some, who want to marry and settle ..

After all, it is just a personal choice .. or is it even a choice ?

So Naive of me, that a music video in a foreign language to me, made me think so much
Probably that is the power of the art and the artist :)
