Chapter1
Year 2005
I cleared my SSC with distinction 85%
okay 84.93, now don’t be my Chachi who legit checked my marksheet to confirm it :P
It was also the day when my Doctor grandfather was admitted to a hospital,
due to a mild heart attack …
Trust me, it wasn’t my percentage, he was already admitted for past 2/3 days
So, when my Doctor dad took me to take Babaji’s (Grandfather) blessings in the hospital
and enquired “Papa, ab aage isko kya padhaun?”
Babaji: “BSC karwa do”
And just like that 2 Doctors killed my childhood dream of becoming a Doctor
This episode literally confirmed to me, even further that — —
My education is a do or die for me
and the next 2 years of 11th and 12th were like a war for me !!!!
I again got distinction in HSC and good marks in PCMB CET
(Had to give Math CET because papa wanted me too )
Papa asked me to fill the admission forms for BSC, BioTech, CAP rounds of Engineering
and took me to GRANT MEDICAL (MunnaBhai college) to apply for Medicine, but never took me there again to see the results
I was literally Brain-drained for choosing Engineering and NOT MEDICAL
because, MBBS
— — took many years
— — what if you get married in the interim
— — Internships in Rural India
— — Post specialisation
— — all your friends will start earning and you will still be studying
etc etc etc
Tbh, the main reason was MONEY !!! feessssss
(Also, Most Doctor dads actually got their kids into Engineering rather than MBBS, strange !!)
Now Engineering CAP rounds:
When Papa and I were at KJSC to submit the form, accidentally my Chemistry Professor from SIES was also in the queue for his daughter’s admission
Patil Sir told papa that there is SNDT, Juhu for Engineering and best option for girls, as it is an all women’s university
Bus phir kya tha …
For the next CAP round, I was asked to fill SNDT as my first 3 options to apply for Engg. college 😬
and the rest is history as they say … :D
